Practical sustainable packaging options for Indian brands
Recyclable mono-materials, paper-based structures and honest trade-offs on cost and barrier.
What is realistically available today
Recyclable mono-material PE laminates now work for a wide set of dry products, and paper-based structures with thin barrier coatings suit lower shelf-life products well. Kraft cartons and unbleached corrugated reduce material impact without any performance penalty.
The trade-offs to plan for
- Mono-material laminates have a narrower heat-seal window — filling lines may need adjustment
- Paper-based pouches usually mean shorter shelf-life
- Recyclable structures currently carry a modest cost premium
- Reducing pack size or ply is often the cheapest genuine sustainability win
